This boat just came back to WBRF as the fellow restoring it had a family issue to attend to and did not feel he could finish the project. He made a new stem (black locust) and placed it (temp) in the boat. He gutted the cockpit and interior. He also removed the centerboard case. So she is not in a state of loose open hull with the keel partially removed, forward 6 frame sets out. He made three sets of chine frames and bottom frames (not in boat now).
So if you want her you will need to store her up for transport. Once at home you need to get a new keel in, new frames (at least 75%of then--lowers), new garboards (broken by mistake) and a couple of other planks. You will need to re-batten the planks before re-framing or something like that (call someone who knows the steps in batten seam restoration). Rebuild the interior and make some new. Rebuild the cockpit and make some new. Get an outboard. Rigging is very good as is sail. The big problem now is that too many things where opened up at once, so a frame will need to be made to get shape and stability back in order to be able to move forward on the restoration---i.e keel first or battens or frames, etc.

Well she is still just sitting out there and the cover just came off in 60+mph winds---will have to recover.  She is still available, but she is showing need to have the foreword structure strengthened so she does not settle to much.  With the frames, keel and stem all loose or not there ,the weight is on the planks alone.  The planks here are bending, but they bounce back as weight is taken off them.  I wish someone would take her.  The guy who had her made a cradle for her and this goes with her (well made to her contour to allow restoration---this will give the needed stability to get the bow back in shape and strong--needs to be picked up in Ledyard, CT).  The rig is great, as is the centerboard and rudder and sails.  The rot is mostly gone and all old parts are still around for reproduction.  So from here it is mostly rebuild vs. gutting, chasing rot and then rebuilding.

She is with a new owner!!!!  As of  4/7/06

Hi.  Haven't done to much, Striping a lot of paint and finding more rot.  Removed all rigging off of boom and have striped 75% of it.  If it keeps going the way it looks I may be doing spars in bright work.  so far so good.  Still a long way off before I get to any woodwork.  It looks to be about an other month or so.  I'll keep you posted. Ron. PS Do you need those books back soon? or can I keep them a little longer.

Hi Bruce,

I have the mast + boom indoors.   Have taken the gar boards + dead wood + keel out and most of the paint,  I have found much more rot, big surprise--  Not!   All the caulking + so forth.  I've sistered in new frames + knees + floors to get her back the way she once was.  A lot of work but she going to be the best looking girl on the sound. I'LL be updating the site ASAP I've been getting all bronze hardware for her getting rid of the chrome.  A lot of new stuff.  I am looking for one bronze cheek block.   ILL get back to you on that.  Ron
