Dear Bruce,
Here are the first photos of the 1967 Borresen Dragon that we are
restoring. Her U.S. Dragon Association number was 262 and I heard she
came here through Canada. I thought you might want to post them on your
web site. She is Mahogany planked on white oak frames. Her deck was
plywood. We removed the two starboard bow planks because they were
Philippine mahogany from an earlier repair, which did not match the rest
of the Honduran mahogany of the hull.
We are now replacing the rusted keel bolts and a piece of the deadwood.
(I am also sending a copy of this mail to Mickey at the Dragon
Association, who is doing a great job of finding and organizing Dragons
in the US and Canada.)

Bruce,
She is stripped down and the boys are fairing the hull. She is brite above the
water line. There are some loose scarf joints in the mahogany
planking that we are epoxying. Next we are replacing the keel bolts. They are
all rusted and won't back out.

Bruce,
Moving right along, the boys replaced the rusted keel bolts. There was a lesson
along the way, that you can't pound on cast iron too hard when
driving out the old keel bolts from the ballast. They cracked off the tip of
the casting and had to weld it back on. But all is well and she has all new,
stainless keel bolts.
