Swedish Koster-class

Basics:

This boat seems to have been built before 1930 on the southwest coast of Sweden.  She was build to Koster one-design class specs (or at least what was then the specs).  These boats are based on the Koster or Kåg work/fishing boats of southern Sweden.  She was built like the Koster, clinker oak on oak with copper rivets.  Her deck is teak and her beams and interior is Larch (I think).  She has been  rigged for an engine, but of course these boats did not have them originally. She has a steel ballasted keel and all stainless rigging. She is 24 LOD, 9 1/2 Beam, 4 1/2 Draft.

State:

I found this boat via the free ads in Wooden Boat Magazine.  She needs at least 1/4 of her keel, 1/2 or her deck, all her cabin top and sides, 1/4 her frames, and 1/6 her planks replaced.  She needs at least 1/4 of her mast replaced. Her interior is in good shape, but needs some refinishing and replacing---of course it will all have to come out to get to some of the frames.  She is small enough to be finished by one person in a winter or fall and winter. Generally she is in a savable state and a not too daunting a project.  Her rigging is great as are her sails--look to be from the 1970 - 1980s.  If one were to highlight the biggest obstacle in her restoration, I would say the deck/cabin replacement.

Current action:

I have her well supported, covered and well ventilated and I am treating her with Linseed Oil and Tar "Boat Soup" stuff. (NOTE: Thank the people in Wooden Boat Forum).
